For any particular commodity or action, or for the aggregate of all commodities or actions –

  • to achieve a particular level of Health&Welfare Units requires ever greater quantities.

This is because of   –

  • The decreasing marginal contribution each additional unit of quantity brings to satisfying human wants and needs.  If you are broke, and I give you one dollar – that is very useful.

If you are a billionaire that one extra dollar is far less useful.

  • The ever increasing difficulty of adding that extra bit of “Health”.
  • The ever increasing difficulty in optimally deploying the Intrinsic Value so as to  reap the maximum possible Effective Value.

The chart equally describes the situation for One Consumer contemplating one commodity/action, and the situation for the Aggregate of All Consumers considering the Aggregate of All Commodities/Actions.
